Adored: 365 Devotions for Young Women (Book Review & Giveaway)

Adored
Adored: 365 Devotions for Young Women is a wonderful book that includes a daily short scripture, devotional message, and a place for journaling. Each devotion contains no date, so you can start at the front of the book or wherever you would like to start in the book. The devotions are relevant to many difficult things young women face everyday from bullying, social media, friendships, dating and more. It is recommend for young women, ages 13 and older but I think even the preteen age group would enjoy this. I am even gifting this to my preteen niece for Christmas because I think she will greatly enjoy this devotional book.

There are so many battles young women face and sometimes at this age group, I feel like it can be hard for someone to talk to. I love how this book is a daily reminder of how much we are Adored and loved by God, no matter what we are going through. It also gives young women an opportunity to write down and express what they are feeling.

In a busy world, this devotional book in a matter of five precious minutes gives quiet time with the Lord. I know when I have quiet time, no matter what goes on that day, I have that constant reminder that the Lord is fighting for me. I would highly recommend this book. It would make a special gift for a niece, friend, daughter, granddaughter, or maybe even a Sunday School student or youth student. I'm excited to see how much my niece will love this!

Kutless (CD Review & Giveaway)

Kutless

Kutless is a rock and worship band that has been together for over 17 years. This amazing group from Portland, Oregon has released their newest CD, Alpha/Omega  and it is incredible. The first time I listened to their songs on this CD, I literally got goosebumps. This group has an evangelistic heart, and you can hear it in their music. Their mission as a group, has been to promote the gospel to a younger generation. This includes not only in the United States, but other countries as well.

They have released two other CD's, Strong Tower and Live From Portland. They have had 12 Number 1 radio singles as well, including "Strong Tower," "What Faith Can Do," and "Carry Me to the Cross." Chances are, if you listen to Christian radio, you have definitely heard this band's music. "King of My Heart" is one of the song's on this album, and it is now one of my favorite songs to listen to!

I was really impressed not only by this CD, but by the efforts and talents of this group. There is such a need to reach our younger generation, and what better way to reach them, then in music. They are excellent role models not only for my sons, but also to everyone and on how important it is to spread God's Word. I think if you enjoy modern Christian music, this is a must have in your CD collection. I think it is one that can be loved by every member of the family, and not just the young ones.

Kwik Stix (Giveaway & Review)

Kwik Stix
Disclosure: I was provided a complimentary pack of Kwik Stix in exchange for a honest review.

Hi, friends! My family and I are so excited to be able to share with you about Kwik Stix. We have reviewed Kwik Stix in the past (check out our other posts here), and it is a product we use very much in our house. It is a solid tempera paint that dries within 90 seconds. It can be used on wood, canvas, cardboard, paper, and also poster paper. The best part is, there is no mess and no need for art smocks, water cups or brushes because of its unique design.

Kwik Stix
Our life has changed quite a bit in the past year. We went from being a homeschool family, to having my boys go to public school last year. Kwik Stix is wonderful for helping them complete school projects and homework. I also became a preschool teacher this year, so I have brought this amazing product into my classroom and used them with two year old students! I can't tell you what a blessing it is not to have to worry about clean up with paint, with a two year old! I love the versatility of this product, and how it can be used with children (and adults!) of any age. I also love the vibrant colors the paint offers.

Kwik Stix

This is a product that can be enjoyed by everyone. It is not only great for a classroom, but can be used in the home for arts and crafts projects, homeschool, child care center, preschool, Sunday School classes and more! It is a product that my family and I love very much, and we would highly recommend it.

Patterns of Evidence! (DVD Review & Giveaway)

Patterns of Evidence

Tim Mahoney's first full feature documentary film, Patterns of Evidence: The Exodus was released in January 2015. This film was 12 years in the making to investigate the biblical Exodus from a scientific angle. His approach gives audiences a way to determine their own opinion and to develop a conversation based on the findings. The film won 13 awards in the 2014 film festival circuit. Before this, he produced numerous productions for Christian organizations including the Billy Graham organization, World Wide Pictures, and Compassion International.

In the film, there are interviews with top experts in Egyptology and archaeology, as well as people of influence in the Middle East.  There are honest questions asked about the story of Exodus in the Bible, and Mahoney allows the evidence to speak for itself while also being respectful of other viewpoints. I thought this was a fascinating approach, because you may view this DVD with someone who has different beliefs than you do.

The film is full of interviews, real footage of Egypt and places where the story of Exodus is discussed in the Bible, and is an absolutely beautiful documentary. It gives graphics of timelines and time frames that are easy to understand, and facts that are proven of the story that you would have never thought of. My husband has biblical knowledge from the college courses he has taken and being raised in the church, and he was amazed at some of the revelations that came from this documentary.

We really enjoyed viewing this documentary. My sons are younger and were able to understand most of the DVD and enjoyed hearing about familiar stories in the Bible, that they were able to be shown to be true. I would definitely recommend this DVD to be viewed by your family, small group, or as a homeschool study for older students.

DISCOUNT CODE:

If you would like to purchase the DVD that normally retails for $19.95, you can enter code MK1 at checkout for $3 off! There are also supplemental resources available for purchase such as homeschool curriculum, a nearly 400 page hardback book, small group Bible Study, Movie Event kit, and a youth version.

That New Car Smell

Cars.com

Cars.com

Do you know what the best part to me is about buying a new car? It has that amazing new car smell, even if it is used. There is something exciting about getting a new car. There are so many varieties and brands of vehicles now, that to purchase a car has become a tiresome project. That's why I like Cars.com. You can search new cars, used cars, certified cars and even trucks. The website makes it very easy to navigate by make, model, price, and how far you are willing to travel to get the vehicle.

Cars.com

My husband and I are hoping to be in the market for a second vehicle within this year, so we like to be educated buyers and look ahead before we buy. If it were up to my husband, he would have a Chevrolet Silverado. We went to Cars.com and put in the specifics for what we were looking for. My husband laughed when I put in the amount, because I have no idea what trucks cost. The cool thing is, the website still pulled up the specifics we were looking for regardless of the amount we entered.

Once we were on the screen with the specifics we entered, we found out we could simplify it even more by the tabs on the side for interior and exterior color of the car, minimum and maximum price, year, mileage, dealer ratings, and features just to name a few. Once we found the truck he liked, we were able to see what dealership the truck was at, the phone number and address of the dealership, a form to ask the dealership questions about the vehicle, and the price of the truck.

Cars.com

We scrolled down, and were able to see that we could get a report on the car, recall information, and an estimate on what our car payment might be. It also gave us more information vehicle, other vehicles available at the same dealership, features, seller's notes, and even financing options. I enjoyed how they explained what having a Certified vehicle is,  and also a price comparison tool. My husband loved this tool and how it let us know the vehicle was priced higher than other vehicles similar to it, We both felt this was great and straightforward information to give.

Cars.com

We also found out not only can you look to purchase a car on Cars.com, but you can also sell and trade, get your car serviced and repaired, and look at videos and reviews of vehicles. My husband and I felt very comfortable using this site, and it was easy to navigate. We felt the information was up-to-date, helpful, and honest. When we are ready to purchase that second vehicle, I know where I will be heading first for that new car smell!

Blessings,

Kelly

A Summer Surprise Party! (Sponsored Post)

Walmart Cottonelle
Sponsored Post: This post is sponsored by Cottonelle, but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

My oldest is going to be eight years old in a few days! Many of you know we have moved back to the states after our adventure in Panama, but many of you don't know that we actually changed states as well. We are about a nine hour car drive from where we used to live, and also from where my sister-in-law and her family live. My boys have always been close to their cousins, and it has been hard to be so far from them. All my oldest was asking for was to be able to see his cousins for his birthday. My sister-in-law is amazing, and they are actually driving up this week to surprise him! Her and my mother-in-law have been planning a surprise birthday party, and I can't wait to see his face!

Cottonelle

All of this got me thinking though. I had to make a trip to Walmart to make sure we have everything we need for when they come visit. We are doing a BBQ party, so I made sure to have my shopping list include buns, meat, snacks, drinks, napkins, plates and condiments. There was one thing I forgot though: the toilet paper.

Cottonelle

I strolled down the toilet paper aisle, and was happy to see that there is a Mega Roll pack available from Cottonelle. This pack includes 12 Mega Rolls that have 380 sheets per roll, and the 12 pack is the equivalent to 48 regular rolls of toilet paper. This means less changing of the roll! It also still has the Clean Ripple Texture on every sheet, so your family is still getting the comfort they need.

Cottonelle

The next thing I did, was open my Ibotta App on my phone. You all know I love saving money at the grocery store! There was a rebate for purchasing Cottonelle, so I made sure to add this into my cart!

Ibotta

I felt very patriotic walking through my local Walmart. There were red, white, and blue balloons on all of the aisles and displays to celebrate the fourth of July. I also noticed there were several signs that showed Walmart is now doing online grocery pickup. My friends at small group the other day were just talking about this, and how they love avoiding the checkout lines, bringing in a tired child to the store, and how the Walmart employees actually bring out your groceries to your car! Have you all tried this yet? I am definitely going to be trying this the next time I need to make a trip to Walmart.

When I got home, the first thing I did was to make sure I had all the bathrooms stocked up with Cottonelle toilet paper. I then put all my groceries away, and am now starting to get the house ready for our family to visit! We are so excited! Thanks for stopping by to read our story! I will have an update soon as to how my son's birthday party went!

ZappLight (Review)

ZappLight

Disclosure: I received a complimentary product from ZappLight in exchange for a honest review.

ZappLight

It is that time of year. Kids off of school for the summer, longer days of sunshine, BBQ, 4th of July fireworks, and that one pesky little critter...the mosquito. Living on a lake doesn't make it easy to keep away from these insects. My sons and I all have horrible skin reactions when we get bit by these bugs, so I am always looking for a way to help us combat them especially in the summer. I can't tell you how excited I was when I learned about ZappLight.

 ZappLight

The ZappLight is a light that can be used inside or outside, and plugs into any light fixture. It uses an LED light to light up your home, while also using a blue UV light that attracts insects and then zaps them in in the bug zapping grid. This light bulb covers 500 square feet of space and is also energy efficient. It is easy to clean, and I like how it doesn't have any chemicals or sprays with fumes so I feel like this is a very safe product to use for my family.

Zapplight

We received the Signature ZappLight, but there are many different products to choose from. If you check out their products page, it gives you options to choose from different designs and even colors to get the right light for your house and family. This product is also available in many different countries such as the U.S., Canada, Japan, Germany and Brazil just to name a few.

ZappLight

My family and I really enjoyed reviewing this product, and how it is helping keep our house bug free for the summer. To learn more about this awesome product, please visit ZappLight or on their social medias below:

ONCE UPON A TIME HOLY BIBLE and ONCE UPON A TIME STORYBOOK BIBLE (REVIEW)

Once Upon a Time Holy Bible
Disclosure: I received a complimentary Once Upon a Time Holy Bible and Once Upon a Time Storybook Bible from Zonderkidz, through FlyBy Promotions in exchange for a honest review.

Have you ever noticed, that all the great stories start with Once Upon a Time? I was beyond excited when I saw the Once Upon a Time Holy Bible and Once Upon a Time Storybook Bible available from Zonderkidz.  Children love not only the happy endings, but also the heroes and of course the princesses in fairy tales. I thought what a great idea to introduce the concept of the Bible to young children, in this beautifully illustrated Bible and Bible Storybook. The best part of this, is teaching your children that the tales in these books are real and true. There was a Queen who was named Esther, and a young boy named David who fought a Giant. It is also material brought to you by Zonderkidz, which is a trusted name to me when it comes to purchasing Biblically accurate products.

Once Upon a Time Bible

Once Upon a Time Holy Bible introduces your children to some great characters in the Bible, and also the Word of God. It is brought to you in the New International Reader's Version (NIrV) translation, and is actually the full Bible and highlights six wonderful stories of the Bible on 24 gorgeously illustrated pages. I was extremely happy about this. We didn't have a translation of this type of Bible in our house yet, and I was impressed it was the full translation. My oldest child, who is eight claimed this Bible immediately and now brings it to church with him every Sunday.

Once Upon a Time Bible

Once Upon a Time Storybook Bible introduces your children to 33 stories in the Bible, and they are all brought to them with not only beautiful color illustrations, but also with scripture and with a takeaway at the end of each story. The takeaway offers a short summary and reflection of the story, and also references the scripture to read. The stories come from both the Old and New Testament.

Once Upon a Time Storybook Bible

Both of my sons really enjoy reading this book before bed. The stories are colorful and exciting, and perfectly long enough for a short read before bed. The stories offer hope, love and heroism that show what can happen when you put your faith and trust in the Lord. It is a great lesson to teach your children, and also to reaffirm in ourselves.

Once Upon a Time Storybook Bible

My family and I would all highly recommend this Bible and Bible Storybook. My husband and I were impressed with the Biblical accuracy of these products, and my sons loved the stories and all the pictures. We think it would make a phenomenal addition to any family or church library. I think it would be a fantastic product for a children's Sunday School teacher, a wonderful gift on Easter, or a gift just because. Spending quality time reading the Bible with your children and having fun with them, while enjoying these true stories, I think it is the best gift of all.

Abandoned Faith (Book Review)

 Abandoned Faith
Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of Abandoned Faith: Why Millennials Are Walking Away and How You Can Lead Them Home from Tyndale Blog Network, in exchange for a honest review.

Abandoned Faith: Why Millennials Are Walking Away and How You Can Lead Them Home is an incredible book that I think every parent needs to read, regardless of how old their children are. It is a book designed for parents of Millennials; people born between 1980 and 2000. I felt this book could reach every parent on all levels. It is a Focus on the Family book, and written by both Alex McFarland and Jason Jimenez. These two authors share their research and conversations had with Millennials and their parents, as well as interviews with top Christian leaders who have worked with Millennials and their families. It discusses how children brought up in the church, are walking away from their faith and also the struggles these Millennials face. It discusses the distractions, such as technology, and also what happens when children step away from home for the first time. It is also a book that gives parents of these Millennials, the Millennials themselves, and their families hope.

This book was hard to put down. I initially wanted to review it, because I have many friends and family who have either walked away from church or have not had an interest in wanting to attend church. I wanted to know the reasons as to why this would be. This book is extremely honest. It has us as parents, look at ourselves and how we live our lives, and what we model for our children. I am a Millennial since I was born within the dates listed above, and I remember as a child being told, "Do as I say, and not as I do." The problem with this expression is, a child is going to model what their parent does, or go out of their way to not model their behavior. I feel like kids born today, see right through this. If you as a parent do something, they of course are going to model you. This doesn't mean we as parents are supposed to live without breathing or without mistakes, but we need to make life realistic and balanced so that our children can live this way as well.

Abandoned Faith addresses much of the guilt that parents beat themselves up over. Many parents may not have been Christians during their child raising years, or maybe struggled with their own issues as they were raising their children. Ultimately, this may have led to their children walking away from the church as an adult. I know this is a big problem in the church and one that is not discussed, but this book sheds light on that and offers hope. It stresses the power and importance of prayer, but also forgiveness. Whether it is forgiving yourself, your parents, or your children, I can't tell you how healing this book was to read.

I would definitely recommend this book to any parent, or any church leader. There are so many amazing stories and testimonies, and ideas on how to bring Millennials back to the church. I think the most emphasized way, was modeling Christ in us.  It is not just about going to church on Sunday. It is about loving others and staying strong in our faith, and living that out everyday. If we can model that for ourselves, our children, and others, I think we will see many of these Millennials return to church.

Blessings,

Kelly

The Story Travelers Bible (Review)

Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of The Story Travelers Bible from Tyndale Blog Network, in exchange for a honest review.

My sons have been loving reading through the adventures in The Story Travelers Bible. There are 85 different stories from the Bible that include learning about the important cultures, people and places of the Bible. It is a fun way to learn the Biblical truths of these stories, and I think a great way to spend time with your kids as a family. The pages are beautifully illustrated, and they include sidebars on historical facts and scripture references.  It is recommended for children from four years old to seventh grade.

 Tyndale Blog Network

My boys had a blast traveling through these stories with the three fictional children shown on the cover; Lana, Munch and Griffin. My oldest, who will be eight this year enjoyed being able to read some of the stories to my youngest, who will be six this year. They also had an amazing time reading with Grandma. I loved that they were able to spend time together, and have such a good experience reading through these fun and truthful stories.

 Tyndale Blog Network

I also really enjoyed the amount of effort and research that went into explaining these Biblical stories, in a way that children could understand. I thought the three children hosts really was a fantastic idea. The children are whisked away in a magical bus, and are able to view the Biblical stories first hand. There is insight into thinking further about what the stories mean, and how they can be related to our own lives today. There is also scripture reference at the end of each story, that encourages you to get into your Bible and read. I have read so many Biblical storybooks throughout the years with my sons, and it was refreshing for the author to encourage not only relying on these stories, but to get into the Bible and further see the truth behind all of the stories.

 Tyndale Blog Network

As a Mom and a Sunday School children's teacher, I would highly recommend this Bible storybook. My mother-in-law and both of my boys also highly recommend this Bible storybook. We all had such a fun experience reading this together, and digging further into God's Word. I think it so important to instill the truth of these stories into children, and this book does an incredible job of accomplishing that.

Slammers Snacks (Review)

 Slammers Snacks
Disclosure: I was provided complimentary products through a distributor, from Go Gourmet in exchange for a honest review.

My sons have been the talk of the cafeteria at school lately, and it's all because of Slammers Snacks! Slammers Snacks are filled with delicious fruits, vegetables, and vitamins in a pouch, and it is a USDA organic snack. Even my oldest son, who is a picky eater loves these amazing snacks! The snacks come in seven yummy flavors, and we were blessed to receive three of these flavors: Chill'n, Watermelon Kiwi Burst!, and Creamy Banana Chocolate! The other four flavors include Epic, Awesome, Pumped, and Pomegranate Grape Crush.

 Slammers Snacks

Not only are these snacks tasty, but they are healthy. It is a great alternative to chips and cookies, and as a Mom, I feel awesome giving my sons something that is packed full of nutrients. These are not your typical fruit-filled pouches. They have a creamy texture, not like some of the fruit pouches my sons have tried where they have a chunky texture. My oldest is a texture kid, so he is really picky with his fruits and vegetables. I was so happy to receive these products, because now he asks for these pouches, and I know his body is getting the nutrients he needs.

 Slammers Snacks

The packages and pouches are all colorful and fun, and definitely geared towards children in elementary through high school. Everyday at school, my sons' friends ask what flavor they brought in that day. Both of my boys thought the snacks were incredible, and they each had a favorite. My oldest liked the Chill'n flavor, which is a mix of blueberries, bananas, butternut squash, Greek yogurt and yumberry.  My youngest liked the Creamy Banana Chocolate!, that was filled with organic banana, coconut cream, grape, sweet potato, and cocoa powder. They both want to try the Epic flavor next time we make a grocery trip.

 Slammers Snacks

We easily were able to find these at our local grocery store, and these products can also be found at Target. If you visit the Slammers Snacks website, you can type in your zip code and find a store near you that carries these wonderful snacks. They come in a 4 pack, which make them easy to keep in the refrigerator so they are ready for snacks on the go, or to put into a lunchbox. They don't need to be refrigerated, but my sons like them cold. My youngest ran a marathon last weekend, and he was so excited to have some Slammers Snacks waiting for him at the finish line.

 Slammers Snacks

My family and I would definitely recommend these yummy snacks. I was provided with extra Slammers Snacks, so I gave them to some of my co-workers for their kids. They all came in raving about how much their kids loved the snacks, and they were happy too because the products are organic. It is a great feeling as a parent, knowing that your child is eating something healthy and they are enjoying it.
